Craig was born with cerebral palsy and through physical therapy and sheer determination has overcome many hurdles. He developed an interest in art shortly after 9/11 when he enrolled in a class using artwork as a means to assist people in working through emotional pain and stress. Subsequently, one of his pieces was selected for inclusion in a book entitled, "Drawing Through The Pain,” by author and art teacher Barbara Ganim.
Craig enrolled in an award-winning adaptive arts program sponsored by United Cerebral Palsy of R.I. which incorporates specially designed art expression adapted to the needs and skills of the individual regardless of their disability. He was quickly drawn to abstract design, and began his journey. One of his pieces being exhibited in a show caught the attention of a representative of the R.I. State Council of the Arts, was purchased and now hangs in their office. The Governor of R.I. presented him with a special award of recognition for the piece entitled, "American Tapestry."
His own business was born when his parents gave him an old parlor table and suggested he paint one of his abstract designs on it for his living room. It proved so successful, he began collecting pieces of antique and used furniture, painting them, displaying them in shows and successfully selling many of them. This experience led him to receive orders for specially commissioned pieces utilizing coffee tables, plant stands, bedside tables, childrens' furniture and stools.
